Kendall and Luis’ wedding at Eden Gardens
Kendall and Luis were married at Eden Gardens in Moorpark, CA in a celebration that blended both their Mexican and American heritage. CMG Weddings & Events led the design incorporating beautiful and romantic white florals by Florals by Isabelle and we’re obsessed with the pineapple theme—a reference to the groom’s last name: Piña. SO adorable. Check out all the pretty details in these gorgeous images by Lucas Rossi Photography
What made the wedding special and unique?
We were getting married, that alone made the entire thing special and unique to us! Being that my husband’s family is Mexican and mine is primarily American, we had to accommodate for both cultures. While it seemed a bit stressful at first, it’s one of the reasons the wedding was so special. Our ceremony was in English, but incorporated some parts in Spanish. Like a poem by the popular Mexican Poet, Pablo Neruda. We had our DJ play a mixed variety of music including Latin songs, which everyone enjoyed dancing too, even those who claimed, “I don’t know how to dance to this”. The entire thing made it easy for both our families come together and celebrate our wedding.
Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!
I found it the first day at the second store. I had tried on a lot and somewhat liked a couple of them, but the second I put this one on I knew. The girl helping me knew and she asked me before I left what I thought about this dress, I told her “this is the one” before anyone else saw it. Best part, I didn’t even know what I was looking for, it was nothing like what I thought I’d be wearing, but I couldn’t have dreamed up a better one. The dress is Pronovias from The White Dress in Corona Del Mar.
What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?
My husband’s last name is Piña, which means Pineapple. We decided to add pineapple details throughout the wedding decor. We didn’t want to go overboard with the pineapple touches. For example we used real baby pineapples with tags for our escort cards, pineapples on our signage and napkins! Guests loved the miniature pineapples!
What was the most memorable part of the day?
The entire day was memorable. Our immediate family and most of the wedding party arrived two days before the wedding day, for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. The following day the men went off to golf, while the ladies went wine tasting. So, our wedding felt more like a three day event, with the actual wedding being the final hurrah. With that said, for the two of us one of the most memorable parts was when we sneaked away, during dinner, to take our sunset photos. Our photographer, Lucas Rossi, really made us feel comfortable and it felt more like a time for us to have fun together, than an actual photo shoot.
Tell us how you met and became engaged.
We met on a Friday night, at a bar, while celebrating the birthday of my husband’s cousin. Neither one of us wanted to go out that night, but destiny forced us out of our homes and made us cross paths. One year seven months later, we got engaged. Our engagement happened on a Friday evening, at one of our favorite restaurant’s (Beachcombers in Corona Del Mar). We had a long conversation that night, where we discussed our plans for our future and what we each wanted out of life. This was followed by a nice walk along the beach, where my husband popped the question!
